World Championships in GermanyAt the Iniscarra Community Centre in Ballyanly on Saturday, 13 September, the Cork Kenpo Karate Club ran a Cork Open event. The competition was a Kumite only event for athletes under 18 years of age. Considering the scope of the event, there was a good turnout of over 120 competitors from Cork, Dublin, Meath, Mayo, Galway and Waterford..
Competition organiser and Cork Kenpo Karate Club head coach Sensei John Connolly was absolutely delighted with the standard of fighting from all the young competitors at the event "We saw some superb technique and I'm very pleased with the emerging talent from all across the country".
Congratulations to Cork's Rachel Murphy & Mabel Hayes, who both were both double gold medal winners in their respective Kumite sections.
